About the Work
A portrait of quiet force, survival, and becoming.
Power is a hyperrealistic dry pastel portrait of a lioness meeting you head-on — steady, unblinking, and impossible to ignore.
Every strand of fur, every whisker, and every ember in her eyes was layered by hand on Pastelmat, built slowly from soft underpainting to razor-sharp detail.
She was the first to rise from my hands as I stepped into a medium I did not yet know how to wield. She demanded stillness. She taught patience. She became a mirror for my own becoming — the first glimpse of the strength that had been waiting inside me to be revealed.
At first glance, she is calm. Look longer, and you feel the power held just beneath the surface — not loud, not performative, but utterly certain.
Her eyes do not ask.
They know.
