As she slowly emerges from behind the shadows, her fears, doubts and shyness no longer stop her. She still has them, but in spite of these inner demons she emerges, she rises, like the Phoenix from the ashes, to finally, truly shine as her authentic self for all the world to see.

My first human portrait, rendered in charcoal and graphite over just two days. Her gaze felt like my own - tentative but determined, half in shadow, half revealed. She is the moment I stopped hiding, both as an artist and a person.
